Sessions Court

The Sessions Court is a subordinate court in Malaysia that hears civil claims above the Magistrates Court’s limit, as well as criminal cases more serious than those handled at Magistrates level, excluding offences carrying the death penalty. It sits below the High Court.
When it matters
Most scam-related civil claims of a meaningful size, where a civil claim against a scammer is worth pursuing, are filed here rather than at small claims or the High Court level. Which court is correct depends on the amount claimed, so this is worth confirming with a lawyer before filing, since filing in the wrong court can cause delay.
