E-filing is the electronic system Malaysian courts use for lawyers to submit cause papers, applications, and other court documents online instead of filing them physically over the counter.
Most civil filings in Malaysia, including urgent applications, now go through e-filing, which also generates official records of when a document was submitted and accepted by the court.
For a scam victim, this matters mainly because it affects how quickly certain documents can be lodged, which can be relevant when time is critical, such as applying for a freeze order before funds move further.
When it matters
E-filing is handled by a lawyer’s firm as part of the litigation process, so a victim does not need to use the system directly, but understanding it exists helps explain how quickly a filing can happen.
