Magistrates Court

The Magistrates Court is the entry-level subordinate court in Malaysia, hearing civil claims up to a set amount and criminal cases that are less serious, such as many first police reports and early hearings. It is the court most people first encounter.
When it matters
A scam-related civil claim may be filed here if the amount fits within its limit, otherwise it moves up to the Sessions Court. On the criminal side, an accused scammer may first appear here even if the case is later transferred upward.
