How to build a transaction chronology
Several payments went out over time, and you need them laid out clearly.

Why a chronology matters more than a total figure
A single total loss figure tells a bank or investigator very little about how the scam actually worked. A chronology, a simple timeline of every payment in order, shows the pattern: how it started small, how trust built, and how the amounts grew.
This matters even if you already reported the scam once. A clear order of events is often what separates a case that moves quickly from one that gets stuck waiting for clarification.
What each entry should include
For every payment, note the date, the exact amount, the method used such as DuitNow, bank transfer, or crypto, and the account or wallet it went to. Add a short line on what you were told at the time, such as a fee, a bonus, or a withdrawal condition.
Keep the entries in the order they happened, not grouped by type. The gaps between payments, and what happened during them, often matter as much as the payments themselves.
Where to pull the details from
Your bank statements and app transaction history are the most reliable source for exact amounts and dates. Read how to get your bank statements and records if you are not sure how to request a full history.
Cross-check this against your chat messages, since the reasons given for each payment usually live there rather than in the bank record. Where the two do not quite line up, note it rather than guessing which is correct.
Keeping it usable for others
Write the chronology so someone who was not involved in the scam can follow it without extra explanation. Avoid shorthand only you would understand, and spell out account numbers and platform names in full the first time they appear.
A clean chronology is one of the most useful documents you can bring to a police report or hand to a lawyer assessing a civil claim. It saves time that would otherwise go into piecing the story together from scratch.
What to do next
Start with whatever records you already have, even if incomplete, and build outward from there rather than waiting until everything is perfect. You can always add detail as more documents come in.
Once your chronology is in reasonable shape, it becomes a strong foundation for reporting, a bank dispute, or organising evidence for a lawyer.
If you have a rough list of payments but have not organised them yet, share what you have and we can help you put it into a usable order.
Common questions
Do I need special software to build a chronology?
No. A simple spreadsheet or even a written table with date, amount, method, and recipient is enough to start. What matters is that it is complete and consistent, not the tool you use to make it.
What if I am missing the exact date of an early payment?
Use your bank statement or app history to fill in what you can, and mark anything estimated clearly rather than guessing silently. An approximate date noted as such is still more useful than leaving a gap.
Should the chronology include messages as well as payments?
Yes, where they explain a payment. A short note next to each transfer, such as what you were told at the time, helps anyone reading it understand why the payment was made.
